Hi Guys,

can anyone help me on this one.
If i dont have a badged charge weight on a split system can i charge it by the temperature readings on my gauges?

Ideally you should find out from the manufacturer or work off your air off temp on the evap

I have a Refrigerant charge calculator produced by DEFRA,
it is only a guide, but if you want a copy PM me your email
and I will forward you it.

I can't vouch for it's accuracy because I have never used it
in anger but it is a starting point.

If no info is available recover any remaining refrigerant.
Charge by measuring superheat will also get you a good starting point, and ensure that no liquid returns to the compressor. At the same time, note the weight of refrigerant added and you can mark the unit accordingly.
