I have pumped systems down to the condenser side before but not the evap side. Could someone post the steps to pump down a carrier split system so I can replace the accumulator. I know it is done in the heat mode and probably is done just as to the condenser side but just in the reverse. Any things I should be aware of. I'm sure you won't get all the refrigerent out past the service valves this way.

heat mode close the liq/small line valve. job done assuming the indoor unit can hold the charge.

Think I'd recover the whole charge, would be able to change the filter drier then as well (assuming its in the line set). Plus you won't have any worries of the valves letting by as you are brazing the new accumulator in.

Tkae the whole charge out, it won`t take much longer (getting all the other gear ready in the meantime) and you`ll have the benefit of knowing if the correct charge was still in there when you weigh it out.
