Bought a daikin siesta atx20jv from the supplier for a very good price, getting ready to install it soon before the summer hits. I have read a few reviews some very good and a lot not so.

I am a huge Daikin fan and always recommend them, they last just as well as mitsubishi electric. Still coming across sky air 1995 models still happily running away, compared to new samsung that aren't.....

The room it's going it is south facing 3.4m x 3.4m, thinking a 2.0kw might be undersized and the bad reviews for the siesta is making me thinking I should have spend the extra and bought a daikin ftx

Any ideas guys?

Hi tonashp,

3.4x3.4= 11.56m2

2000W / 11.56 = 173 W/m2

Should be plenty for your needs here in UK, unless you got really poor insulated walls or lots of electrical equipment in the room.

Just remember that in order to get a long life out of your system the most important thing is a proper installation. OFN when you braze, good bends, no leaks and a deep vacuum.

Thanks viking for the advice.

I am trying to make the install as easy as possible also avoid putting the indoor unit above the bed.

daikin suggest I need an "accessory" to add a wired remote

Probably some sort of interface board... (I'm not that up to date on Daikin stuff nowadays)
But if it is for a bedroom do you really need a wired remote?

krp interfacefor a hard wired controller- a pig to try and hide- better stuck in the loft as you cant hide it under the unit, as for siesta range- its daikins budget kit to compete with the b an q crap, theres more wiring, the units arent even made by daikin, the compressor is constant speed, the build quality is poor, i fiited loads and trying to get the front facia to clip to the back mounting plate is a real pig- broke a lug and you need virtually a new indoor, once fitted then no issues, had the odd compressor fail - siesta units were 300 quid each when u bought a pallet of 10 systems, ftx unit will et you back about 475 quid plus vat

Thats the thing. I had to choose between that and the entry level toshiba from climate center. I am thinking now I shoukd have boughy a toshiba. I may have a chat with center to see what price they will do on a entry level tosh or daikin ftx

toshiba is good, cheap and reliable, mitsi elec m series are cheaper than daikin, about 10% off list for a cash sale, if you work for a company and by it on a company order ( as a staff purchase) you get -19% also mhi kit is ok from h r p

I will speak to climate and see what they can do on a toshiba RAS-107SKV.
I prefer to avoid mhi, I find them to be more problems than they are worth.

I can't think of anywhere that sells mitsubishi electric

Insteas of buying a proper brand. I could always just get one of these. They have toshiba written all over it. Must mean its as good if not better than "toshiba carrier"

Sorry I couldnt resist being very sarcastic.

I have come across many of these where customers go. They are just as good and a lot cheaper than what the ac companyquoted.

I've got the same Siesta inverter unit, albeit the 3.5Kw unit, It's been OK so far, only a noisy fan bearing on the indoor unit which clunks/knocks at low speed.

I too want a wired remote on my unit, mainly because you can set a timer on the wired remote, and the timer sticks. when you set the timer on the wireless remote, the timer only acts once, and needs to be set every day for timed on/off operation, where as the wired remote retains the setting I believe.

Although to add a wired controller to this unit, some kind of interface board is required, and nobody has ever been able to tell me what board and how much it costs :( Any help greatly appreciated :)

Thanks IM, I think thats what my unit lacks though, there's an optional PCB that gives you a HA terminal, but no mention on what this optional board is called, part numbers etc, bit of a mystery :(

Fitted the unit, works a treat. Decided to stick with the daikin siesta. Good for the price. Climate are now flogging the 2.5kw for about £300 ex vat

Price and availability are main differences.
