I deal mostly with comfort cooling, but one project I'm currently involved in requires a custom refrigerator/freezer. Let me start off with, I know little about low temp cooling. I ham doing background research to familiarize myself with the topic, but need help.

I have designed R-134a systems in the past for comfort air. For a refrigerator, would the TXV be larger for a higher pressure drop to get the refrigerant cooler? As long as the evaporator is sized correctly, this should work, right?

In a freezer/refrigerator combo, I have read about single evaps with a fan w/ temp control from the freezer or a second evap in the fridge with a fan w/ temp switch. (side question) Does the freezer have a fan in large walk in freezers? What happens when the fan turns off now that the fridge is satisfied and the freezer is still going... Can the suction line refrigerant be still liquid since the capacity has dropped? Is there a bypass loop with thermostatic solenoid going back to the freezer?

Thanks!!!
