Viking pumps suck. Fiddly bloody things with the way you set up the clearances as well as shaft seals between bearings. Id rather have a Mycom or even the antique David Brown pump.

Great, you can now easily match up Viking capacity with a Mycom pump replacement!

You could also buy a few Viking shaft seals as they are pretty cheap compared to Mycom
$200 compared to more than $1000.

Indeed. Thanks for the link!
The Viking does have some redemption in the lower priced seal, and not to mention keeping me working!

For me the hardest thing is replacing carbon bush in idler gear. Get it wrong & you crack it radially.
Paul Z has mentioned in the past about carbon faces wearing out. As he states replacing with antimony carbons is the only way to go.
We have also seen many cases of by lock nut coming loose. Best to locktite or make up double nut which also is locktite secured.
