I'm working on a Carrier 40x, (engine driven) and the cab command will not power up in standby or road modes.

I've checked continuity through the emergency switch (it works) swaped out cab commands, data cables, and even the micro.

The unit has 14vdc when plugged in into the micro and power in and out of the mp34 and mp40 wires. I even tried suppling power to the s.key wire, still nothing.

I'm out of ideas, anyone else?

The s.key wire is in pin position 4. I did change the two one amp fuses they were both blown, but are good now. The FS and the FR fuses are good.

On page 6-5 does anyone know what pin 33 and 5 does on the micro?

is it looking for power, is it supplying power?

I would say that there is a problem with the micro 56way plug - bad connection.
Disconnect the plug from micro, take out yellow plastic inserts that cover pins and deform a little bit (squeze) the pins themselves for better connection, especially pin 34 and 40.
This is a common problem, had one yesterday.

Good luck, Edvin.

yes we have power on the pin side of the plug, this unit will not power up in standby either. Matter fact that is all we want to use it for is standby operation.

I also noticed that when we plug everything up while the unit is plugged in, with everything powered down the micro board will get hot and 'smoke.' it will do this with the emergency power switch off and even with the 56 pin connector disconnected. the only thing that has power is the two big power wires comming in, and the aluminum housing grounded.

It shouldn't get hot(maybe it could get warm) and definetly shouldn't smoke - then the micro is bad. I thought You said you have tryed a nother micro - so did You?

I tried three. the smoke was from a transformer putting out 18 volts. waiting for a new one.
