Clivet WSAN EE121 .... the pump that circulates the water works ... the compressor though doesn't. All the flash lights start blinking in red.

ah- hi iris- didnt recognise you , this clivet unit- how did you get on with running it in heating mode?

Hi Steve .... we are still stuck. it doesn't switch to heating at all ... and although all the wiring is correct ... but the control pad doesn't seem to read any communication with the heat pump. We tried to start it up manually, but when we did.... the compressor failed and all flashes went on blinking on the pad. the only thing that works is the pump that circulates water.

have you tried resetting it by holding the the "test" and "on/off" button for a few seconds
see if it will run in cooling mode- (chances are by trying to run it in heating manually the controller has alarmed out)

yes, we did.... the problem is the control pad doesn't respond at all .. even if you press and hold any button. The only one that works is the testing button...the one that shows whether all the connections are correct....

when you connect the heat pump to the key pad ... the machine automatically starts on cooling (on its own) if you try to press on/off button for 20 seconds .... doesn't respond, the heating button ... no response.... what do you mean by the controller has alarmed out? can this be fixed and how?

ok, i only have key pad (which is an indoor item) and the heat pump (the machine itself) ... is there anything else that is missing? the service keypad mentioned in the manual (the one that defines all the alarms and sets the parameters) ...this we dont have. this is why we are trying to operate it manually but the on/off buttons don't respond.

how far is the controller (indoor) to the chiller- im guessing its a 2 core screened cable-
is the cable ok, no rodents nibbled at it, visual inspection of cable, any joints in the cable-
is it run near mains cable, creating interference
easiest way to check this if its a long cable run- is remove the controller and temporary wire it direct to the outdoor unit-

we have moved the key pad next to the heat pump with a new cable (30 cms long). Some AC technicians came and said that it could be that the main module (the processor) of the machine has a production fault.. though I think it can't be, the machine is brand new and never run.

Any other ideas?

put the controller back where it was originally fitted and get clivet out on a warranty claim
