Hi everyone, I have a 25kw mitsi electric (R410A) which had a compressor failure, I have replaced the pot but when I blew the pipework through with nitro the oil was green with a strange smell, don't know if this is some type of leak detector or acid clean up, has anyone seen this before ?,
Regards,
Skits.

i have seen green oil after leak detecting dye was fitted to a plant . A uv light would tell you for certain if its dye or not.

Hi Skilts.
Welcome to the forum!
Joe-Ice is spot on where the green colour is very likely the type of dye (Oil) additive used to UV Leak check a fridge system.
The smell given of from a motor burn out is highly pungent and may indeed be acidic?
At minimum I would acid test your oil and seriously consider several oil changes and or filter changes at best!

Hi and Thanks for the welcome,
unfortunately the old pot was out of oil, so was unable to do an acid test,
The pot is a fully hermetic so I,m unable to change the oil,
The system has other problems, it has a very low back pressure causing high shell temp,
I have cut out all the strainers in the condensor to no avail,
I have had to isolate for now to avoid another failure,

If the old pot was empty of oil then the oil is in the system somewhere.

When the compressor starts it will eject a small percentage of oil. If there has been a problem with the system causing repeated starts then the compressor will end up without any oil in it which then completes the failure process.

Your system now has double the design quantity of oil in it.

Try blowing nitrogen through the system or you might need to run something like an Endoflush clean.

Hi,
I have only used Endoflush once & will never use it again, The suction line is 1 1/8 and horizontal, it will lay in any dip in the pipe & be impossible to remove from system as nitro will just sail over the top causing me a new problem.

see if oil has settled at thelowest point of the system- if its had glostick in it then theres issues with the quality of the installation- repipe or flush- pressure test the outdoor, and pipework individually to locate the leak

Hi,
The system does not have a leak on it although it may of had one in the past, I have a blockage of some type on the system that I cannot clear, I have removed 6 strainers from CU but still have very low back pressure, we are now considering replacing it, My concern is what is in the pipework & indoor units, Don,t want to wreck a new CU,

Yh its a Mitsi Electric PUHZ-RP250YKA

was it installed with new pipework-
or did they use "replacement technology" did they leave the carbon filter open to the circuit??

Don't know as its a site we have taken over

has the pipework been modified to suit the condenser?
does the pipework look as old as the condenser?
usually if its original pipework theres a dip switch u flick to say the suction pipe is larger than required

Just an update, Mitsi have been to site to check on pressure problems, they told me to change LEV's , main PCB & triple vac system, however since that visit by their engineer, they have given us a new condenser, system is now working fine. :o
