I am currently considering the installation of a small 30' x 18' x 8' freezer in a commercial application. This freezer will operate at -10F.

I am trying to determine the most economical frost heave protection or if FHP is even needed. The current foundation is made up of a 6" concrete slab on grade. I am not aware of any slab insulation.

One equipment distributor stated that Frost Heave Protection would not be required. All freezers that I have been involved with in the past always had some sort of FHP. However, those were larger spaces.

Does anyone have any opinions on this? Thanks for the help
