no way in the world i would part with an rs 1600 bda.
good luck with the mk2, but they were never a match for the mk1 for my money.

as an apprentice I was offered a Mk RS2000 or a 'hot' Mexico. however as an 18 year old I just could afford the car but not the insurance.

It wasn't till ten years later that I managed to buy a Mk II RS2000 . When my ex left me part of the divorce was my car which she took and promptly blew the engine..so I ended up giving it away for almost scrap value..

Of course these wern't really the car to have but there was no way I could have bought one of those belt drive assembly jobbies

Cheers

Richard

About ten years ago my then girlfriend bought me a days rally-driving experience for my birthday & they were using tuned 2-dr. Mk. 2 Escorts there. I asked why they were using such old cars & the reply was that they hadn't found anything else that could stand the abuse as well as them:)

all well and good but they dont make one 1700cc ,and unless you spend good money on one it wont live with this,150 hp i think.

Nah, having a great big heavy lump like that up front would ruin the handling, what you want is the 2 litre 4 cyl. engine out of a Sierra Cossie & 'chipped' to 350 bhp:)
