View Full Version : PTCR Relay blew up after installation

hi
i got window type air cond 24000 btu with reciprcating compressor bristol type
the manufacturer didnt use ptcr relay (hard start kit)
so i added one because i know its useful
i turned on the ac
and compressor started up
after 2 seconds or three
the ptcr relay blown up
and im sure that correctly wired it

whats the compressor model nuumber and what does the wiring diagram say how its wired

its wired in parallel with the start and run of the capacitor
the compressor model number is

H2EB323ABKC

they for smaller compressors

you sure that compressor is 24,000btu- ur quoted model capacity number indicates 323?
contact bristol for the correct start kit

the used ptcr relay is for from 4000 to 40000 btu

was the compressor working before u fitted the capacitor?
if its siezed then it will blow it
