We have a 650 Ltr Jackated tank (SS) for Purified Water Store with water temperature 80 C. We want to cool down the temperature up to 20 C withen 20 min for process requirement.
Cooling media Chilled water with temperature 7 to 8 C. What will be the chiller Tonage Capacity? Pump flow rate will be matched with chiller, so does we need flow control valve for the tank or just circulation of coolin water is enough?
Tank Dia: 2' and Max capacity of the tank 700 Ltr.

How much heat does your process add to the cooling water?

650L ≈ 650kg.
From steam tables,
hf80degC - hf20degC = 251kj/kg.
Total cooling needed = 251kJj/kg x 650kg = 163150kJ divided by 20min ≈ 160kW.

Is it so................??

Flow rate of pump or others data????

650kg x 4.19 x 60 /1200 = 136.175kW

136.175kW /(4.19x60) = 0.54 l/s flow rate

650*4.18*60 = 163000/3600=45Kwhr
60min/20mins = 3
3*45 = 135kw
"check"
135Kj/s * (20 *60 =1200)=162000Kj, close enough after rounding

That answers your question, but the question is wrong

In reality for example your duty could 400Kw at the start and 20Kw at the end. unless you control flow to have a steady kw rating.
