Model is PURY250YMF 30kW with 5 cassettes.

Best option is to replace the kit and keep the pipework, etc, but there is this option that customer wants info on. I was wondering if any engineers on RE had experiences in converting these condensers/systems to R417a, and it all worked out fine, or any problems etc.

Last quote I had for a drop in (R437A and some other one, not 417A though) both came out over 4.5 times the price of the normal refrigerants. Might be something to bear in mind if you ever suffer any refrigerant loss and no doubt the drop in would have gone up in price by then.

Mind you, perhaps 410A be getting phased out then as well, hee hee.

Cheers,
Andy.

R417A is recommended for applications under 15kw only.Would be better to sell them a new system.

Yes, that was the area I was interested in. Have had a few 5kW spilts converted that went okay in the past, but 28kW VRF is a bit more than 15kW. Hence the question for anyone else having done it.
