hi im looking for some ideas of what is a fair salary is for an engineer in my position as i currently think im being screwed. be honest please :) im currently working for a fairly small company in the oxford area and cover reading, surrey and some of london. im 25 have 9 years experience, have NVQ2 and f-gas some basic electrical qualifications. i work mainly doing service and break down on splits vrvs, some chiller work and occasional install work. i have good technical knowledge of the equipment i work on and am normally the go to guy if another engineer cant find a fault. im interested to see what people in my position are earning?

We all sell our skills to the highest bidder.

It all boils down to what you are happy selling your skills for.

for the record, I pay my engineers peanuts :D and I've got monkeys......:p

40, you're a mere pup my lad.

There's lots of underpaid earnings to be made out of you yet. ;)

Working for small company you'll be lucky to see above 28... Install monkey gets jealous when I tell him my salary...

Come and work in Afghanistan. Tax free, free accomadation, food and laundry. My job is up for grabs as I am returning home at the end of the month to look after Her in doors as she isn't well.

OK,

To answer the OP's question,
The true answer is normally 10% above what your boss is willing to pay and 30% below what you think you deserve...
