View Full Version : 3.66/3.74/3.70 Yanmar Head
I have a question, in that did yanmar use the same stock Head in the 366,374, and 370 engines or did they atually recast a different head 3 times?
I know TK uses a different part number but that does not mean anything. I have personally put a 3.66 onto a 3.74, and it worked and ran for years. I am wondering if I can do the same between a 66 and a 70.
Hi zoO,
not sure but I've,also worked on theses engines 3cylinders the 66,70,74 equates to the bore size in mm I think, so its possible the head gasket sizes might be different rather than 3 different cyl heads, again I'm not sure it's been a long time since I've done any engine overhauls,as its all recon take one out fit another.
thanks, that i what I thought. when I did the 366 head on the 74 block I paired it with the 74 gskt.
will let everyone know if the 66 head will work on the 70 block, unless someone knows better.

It will work.
Actually the head won't fit. the 3.70 is a complete redesign from the 66 and the 74. The block and head are longer with completely different water jacket placements, bolt configurations, and cylinder placements. I have a pic if anyone is intereted.
