Hi Mark,
Cant see you out of work here Transport Refrigeration is quite busy at the moment especially the direct drive sector, with Tesco,s & Asda doing Home delivery and other major Supermarkets looking interested.

you must be mad, you won't get 22 quid an hour like you do here ! ($35)

I looked into going back to Birmingham, not worth it, even with being able to buy a house outright.

Perhaps you need to move to the East, Melbourne or Sydney. Plenty of work here for good fridgies.

you can live here like you could live in the UK if you got 22 quid an hour.
Old matey lives in Perth, which has got a bit more expensive as there was a mining boom in WA.

Groceries here cost more, and houses. Petrol is cheaper. Cars cost more.
Eating out is cheaper and better quality.
everything else is about the same.

nobody bothers to advertise as they get no response.

Where would you like to work ? You would get a job in any capital city over here, starting ASAP.
(except Tasmania)

Carrier Melbourne pay $35, Thermo King Melbourne a bit less. Then theres also a few other companies as well.

its always the case when you have a choice of two countries. We left Oz in 2004 for the UK, and came back a year later.
I've heard of some doing this three times and finally staying here.
Your missus might like Melbourne or Sydney more as they would maybe feel less isolated.
either way if you rock up here in Spring there will be plenty of jobs.

I would try and convince her that the grass is not greener back on our mud Island and stick it out in Oz. World growth is now to the East and Australia is in prime location. Service sector in the UK is getting squeezed to death.

Crazy how a lovely sunny day and a clear blue sea can make you feel happy !.
Buy the missus a ticket back to the UK, and move to Melbourne.
I have family in Oz and the USA and they all enjoy a lifestyle that I can only dream of..
