DC vs AC inverters

Hello guys,

Who can tell why all inverters (Daikin, Toshiba, Hitachi) intended to work at very low outside temperature (down to -15'C) have DC motors?

What makes you say DC - are there any AC inverters doing the same?

As far as I know, the DC driven compressor allows better control at low loads = maybe this allows operation at -15C

Shining do an AC Inverter.... Does anybody know the pros and cons of each type!!

I heard once from someone experienced in VFD's that an DC motor is much easier and cheaper to control then an AC motor.

It's easier to hold a high torque an a DC motor because you can play with the field in stator and rotor.
Seen on the mass production this could hold sense.

You don't need all the electronics to generate a sine wave which gives serious noise on the net.
