I have a city multi on 407c with 5 indoors .looking to put one remote off two units .i have remote set for 118 .indoors are 018 and 017 remote is on 018.is there a dip switch to tell 017 it's now a slave .

Is it a master/slave relationship between the indoor units you are after or just both indoor units controlled by the same remote?

The easiest option would be to re-address the remote to 117. Indoor unit 018 would then automatically look for it after the system been reset. But this would be two indoor units controlled by the same remote, not master/slave.

(and No, it doesn't matter to which indoor unit the controller is connected)

Are you connecting the remote to the terminals on the indoor unit that says "remote" or something like that?

The remote you got, with an address setting on it, needs to be connected to the communication terminals the communication loop to the outdoor unit is connected to.

Ye have it (par27)connected to mnet in with the tran cable.both work fine with there own remote just when I loop across the remote goes dead

Loop across?

No need to do any looping, it's all done via the adressing on the mnet.

So how do I tell the remote that it's controlling 018 and 017 with remote set at 118.i have them in one group on the g50

You don't have to, as I mentioned above, just renumber the remote to 117 and both indoor units will pick it up after you reset the system.
In the G50, to make it tidier, you just ensure that it also got remote 117 controlling that group after you got the system up and running again.

So how do I tell the remote that it's controlling 018 and 017 with remote set at 118.i have them in one group on the g50

I would do the following

1. Power all indoors and BC unit down
2. Set remote 118 to 117
3. Power down outdoor unit and SW2, 2 & 3 dip switches ON (outdoor main PCB)
4. Power outdoor unit up and leave for ten minutes (this clears programmed addressing)
5. After ten minutes power outdoor down and set SW2, 2 & 3 OFF
6. Power all indoors and BC unit up
7. Lastly, Power outdoor unit up

The 117 remote should then control 017 & 018

cheers I will try that in the morning .so I'm basically doing a virgin restart with that outdoor connecting 117 with the par 27 and with the g50 setup so that 117 and 118 are in the same group .am I better off doing a virgin restart with all my systems as I have renovated most of the old setup on the systems that are on site.as I have the service checker on it and it still has the old lay out of controllers on the monitoring page .

I would record the old layout of controllers first. Then delete any programmed registration groups (obtain the service manual for this). Then map out how you want the system(s) addressing, set the addresing via relevant rotary switches. Then carry ot virgin restart on system(s).
