HI,

The ideal schematic, . . . The pump discharge is connencted to the chiller inlet,(Chilled water return) and the suction for the return header (from the AHU/FCU). It recently struck my mind, what if the connection is reversed? Will it cause any impact on the HVAC system?

What I intend to do is to connect the pump discharge to the main header (from which AHU draws chilled water) and the pump suction from the chillers chilled water out. Will this work?

What is the ideal location of expansion tank, if its a closed type tank ?

You should not try to reinvent the wheel when it already exists. There are many reasons why in the search function.

The pressure drop through water chiller will reduce NPSH and require a larger pump and motor, plus irregular flow in tubes of chiller risking freeze up.
