I recently bought a used an nonfunctional system hoping to repair it. Due to the compressor not being properly seated on the grommets the out line on the compressor snapped off. Can anyone give me advice on replacing it. Should I bore it out and re-solder?

best option is change the pot- u cannot bore it out as swarf will enter the compressor- last resort is to sleeve a peice of pipe inside so you can then braze onto the sheared face of the stubb- this will give an increased head pressure and decrease performance slightly- might be an idea to use silver solder as it has a lower melting point and - you dont want to melt the original brazed joint- you may be able to heat the sheared stubb and use a hook shaped peice to coax the stubb out

Thanks for the advice. We put a small sleeve in and are now able to hold pressure. The Ace hardware in Fremont, CA sells a grab bag of pipe scraps, copper and brass for about $4. The next step is to apply vacuum and then add r404a.
