View Full Version : Ice Rink: Changing Potassium Formate (Freezium) to Ethylene Glycol

Hi,

I'v been given a task to evaluate the possibility to change secondary cooling fluid in ice rink from potassium formate (Freezium) to ethylene glycol with the existing piping.

Potassium formate has had serious corrosion problems as it is used also to cool the air taken in to the hall. All the air radiators and pumps are totally worn down.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge is it possible at all? I know the viscosity will rise and pumping costs go up but that is irrelevant if the system works.

Thanks

(sorry for my English. My first post ever ;) )

Sounds like someone has been pumping air around with the brine for it to corrode so badly.
