compressor relay welded? cut the power ,see if it starts up as aoon as power restored will prove this

are the batteries ok in the remote control, does the unit beep when u try stopping it? if it beeps and doesnt stop then maybe main relay faulty, point the remote at a mobile in camera mode to see if u get a white light from the controller when u press a button

I seem to remember seeing this problem a few years ago ( 1964) the wiring was wrong would run on cooling until the room temp wanted heating and so on
