HI Guys

I hope you might be able to help. I've had a new LG Art Cool Mirror unit installed with the relevant outside unit. To me it seems way noisier than the advertised 47db. The installer tells me it's normal but I just wondered if there are any second opinions out there. Many thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

I bought an LG gallery about 3 1/2 years ago , compressor failed after 10 days. Had a nightmare with a certain wholesaler getting a replacement. i refused a replacement compressor and demanded a new outdoor unit based on the fact i was not an account holder and wasnt able to get a reclaim bottle !!

If you want a replacement from LG make sure you tell them unit was "dead on arrival" or they will pass you back to the wholesaler it came from...the warranty goes to the wholesaler apparently

I also agree with the fact that if it was dead on the arrival then you should definitely pass it back to the wholesaler.

Looks like LG haven't got a very good name then...which isn't comforting in any way. I've sent a recording to LG technical who say that it doesn't sound normal to them and that I need to get in touch with the installer to rectify the issue. This would be the installer who said that the sound WAS normal so this should be fun. With regards to dead on arrival that is equally difficult. It has been noisy since the day it arrived but it has worked and does pump out heat so I don't know where I would stand on this issue - any further advice would be appreciated.

I swore I would never install them again.........then give them the benefit of doubt.
See/hear the result

That sounds similar to mine but mine is a bit deeper. What was the problem and was it easily rectified?

I've just uploaded a better quality video to youtube if it helps

Aouch.

It would be worth taking the cover of the unit and check below the compressor inside.

The compressor should stand on 3 rubber feet and if you push on it lightly there should be some movement side to side and front to back.
Also make sure that nothing is wedged between the compressor and the casing, either below or beside it.

Otherwise,
Follow LG's advice and get it replaced.

I'd get in tough with your sparky as well, that mains power doesn't comply with the 17th edition or part P,

I solved my noisy LG by sending it back and fitting a new one. Never, ever again.........till next time

We tried fixing it but I had to home eventually. I couldn't stay there for the next few years with my finger on it.

Funnily enough I got the order for phase two of this project today and the client agreed we should fit some "quality" equipment this time. We decided on Mitsubishi Electric, but then I remembered the VRF they sent me a couple of months ago....

They are all as $hite as each other. Cheeky feckers said they could send us the parts and we could repair it.

Hi I bought an LG mirror cool Inverter heat pump in 2009, when i refurbished our bedroom. My dog went MENTAL with the "bing a ling" start up sound, when running it was incredibly noisy (indoor ) with way too much air noise even on low fan speed, the outdoor unit (inverter )sounded like a jetplane taxi-ing for "take off" . My wife couldn't sleep with it on and i was held in deep distain (even by the dog) for installing that "Dreadful machine" in our home (my wife's quote).

I cant say "it didn't work", because it did, very well, but very noisy (in fact it was very frosty for a couple of weeks too, if you get what i mean)

In short it looked great but was an absolute nightmare i ripped it out and put a Daikin siesta unit in instead (after 2 weeks) and normality in the bedroom resumed. (mitubishi electric "M" series are a nice & quiet too)

Sent the video to LG support who tell me that no, it does not sound normal but it is the responsibility of the installer to to now rectify the problem and that LG will assist with technical advice if they need it. Would have been nice if LG would take responsibility for their own warranty on their own product.

I did say if you contact LG direct they will tell you the warranty is with the wholesaler/supplier. Should of told them it was dead on arrival !!

I did tell them that it was making this noise from the moment it was first turned on but they said that I had to go to the installer first to diagnose the problem
