A client of us ordered a new VW Crafter van with a Carrier Xarios 350 MT cooler on it.
He wasn't aware that he had to specify that he would also run this unit on the main power supply while loaded at night.
So, he only has now the possibillity to cool the back while driving.
The installer refuses to make a proposal and the only solution is installing a brand new kit.
We installed in the past a few times a separate Sanden compressor driven by belts with an electrical motor and mounted under the van. We never had any problems with oil but these uinits didn't have many electronics in their controls.
Are there any pitfalls we should think abouth?
Does someone have the piping layout and the electrical drawings?

cheapest option is swap the roofpod or fit genuine carrier stby but parts expendisive whats the temp you want to run at iy may be cheaper to fit just a stby unit on its own but your adding weight to unit if you alter the system at all warranty will go out thr window if your roofpood is big enough still fair work to alter and that is hopeing the roof is strong enough to take extra weight we end up reinforching roofs on them if stby needed

Peter

can you fit a transformer to drop the voltage, then it is just about a control package to get it to work?

you will need more than just a dropper electric wise you need a rec pack a dropper elec plug and and transfer relay carrier use micros so you need to adjust software revision and thats before you start on the fridge circuit if he needs it done fit complete roofpod and lengthen suction pipe if you try to tweak a carrier without correct kit you will land yourself in trouble unless you do away with the micro and controller and fit a eliwell or lae if you fit a lae type controller obviouly your carrier warranty is out the window but that aint worth a lot anyway spend the money now or in summer that customer will be on the phone ever two mins
