The few we worked on some years ago for the Red Cross (blood collection center) ran at -80°C, cscade systems.

I have been servicing a blood bank for 20 years. The procedure we use here is that the blood platelets are frozen to minus 30 cent. for 40 minutes in a liquid submersion chilling unit and then stored at minus 35 cent. I don't know the shelf life figures for this and I am only familiar with the platelets or plasma end of the operation. I am not sure how all this relates to raw blood.

When I was working for Sanyo laboratory equipment it was -80 deg. C cascade with liquid C02 back-up in case of mains electrical supply failure.
Hi everybody,
Thanks for your replies.
We do the same thing. What I need is the plasma storing standard. I am sure there must be one.
Cheers.:)
