Hello
How a lockring pipe connection differs from a compression fitting one ? Why the first unconditionally suits refrigeration, but the latter mostly does not ? What makes the first one to be reliable while the principe of the both is the same ?

In my opinion the difference is in the permanent way a
lock ring fitting works.

It is applied and installed using a recognised method and
if done correctly is a permanent connection never meant
to be removed.

A compression fitting although similar could be removed and
refitted and the skill of the operator doing the job depends
on the thing leaking or not.

Compared to a fully kitted out oxy-acetylene brazing kit (which is the correct way to connect),
the tools required are comparable?
