right then.... can some one just confirm for me what superheat we have. with the figures

R404a
Suction gas temp -15ºC
Suction pipe temp 2.5ºC

whats the superheat?

someone at work has made me doubt myself!! lol

Superheat is the measurable (sensible) heat that is added to the saturated liquid - vapour mix.
Saturated liquid in the evap, in your case is evaporating (saturating) at -15 degc. You measured
the actual suction pipe to be about +2.5 degc.

The difference between -15 and +2.5 is 17.5 so your superheat is 17.5..............

But you knew that didn't you :) . Don't doubt yourself.......
