Heat Pump with a Heat Store +Woodburner +Solar

This is my first post so Hello,

I live in Andorra where it is very dry and very sunny, but in the winter it is cold (ski resort)

I am renovating a 140sqm house and cant get much advice locally (I will be the first heat store they have ever seen!!), so I am asking you all.

I am looking at a 1000ltr Akvaterm geo solar plus tank and want to feed it with Initially a heat pump and a wood burning stove for back up and chilly nights.

Similar to the "AKVA GEO hybrid wood boiler" displayed at the bottom of the webpage from Akvaterm

The main question is would the Daikin Altherma HT be able to feed direct to the tank? From what I can gather it would normally have a coil in the Daikin HW tank. Daikin Recommend a sealed system which I guess an Akvaterm is...just a 1000ltrs sealed system?

Also I assume the use of a charging valve like a laddomat 11-30 would be advisable as well to assist stratification.

I am open to other recommendations for heat pumps for use on a thermal store.

Hi Andorranik
Your Ankvaterm is basically a multi heat exchanger tank and you will need to select your boiler on the total duty cycle. Remember not to oversize boiler too much or your energy consumption is high at partial loads.

The Heat pump would surfice for the tank but I would utilise the solar to raise the rejection temperature to outside source. Although this is not energy efficient (solar is cost free) it will solve low ambient condition problems where the heat pump will struggle to provide capacity. Extending the range before the boiler is required. Maybe via thermostatic diverter or electronic controller on 3 way valve for summer conditions.

Thanks for the quick reply...unfortunately I have to do battle with building control for the panels on the roof..In the mean time its just the HP and the stove. Pity as the roof tiles get real hot even in winter...solar is for sure the way to go but it might take a few years before I get permission.
