Hi fellow members.

Inficon D-tek or Fieldpiece SRL2K7. Infrared sensor true.

There have been some horrible detectors out there over the years but the "Fieldpiece" wins my vote.:)

I use a Inficon Tek-Mate for a quick lap around a Grocery Stores sales floor.....But I have the tried true and tested Bacharach H-10G. The H10-G out performed a New Infared Product that Bacharach is pushing.

Fieldpiece would be my pick(infrared). Good after sales service here in oz also.

I have an "ITE" two piece unit Pretty good for hard to reach condensers (does sound like a geiger counter though), it has even detected in air-path before now (quite a large leak) but 30bar of OFN and a mixture of no sodium soap and glycerin will find most leaks. lot cheaper than the stuff in tins, (No salt/sodium prevents post corrosion)

been there done that with the infrared fieldpiece unit, started going off for no reason, sent it off,got it back it had been recalibrated.still played up a bit but not as bad.used that evaporator/condenser probe for testing in coil blocks, sucked up some water, the pump spewed it over the board.the rest is history no warranty and still yet to push for a claim.when i got it back decided to have a look inside, they did say they cleaned the board.it was absolutely spotless and so was everything else, couldnt find any pots or ports for any calibration, about the only thing removable was the sensor tube and pump
inficon tek mate,accurate and economical

I believe inficon tek / dtek = Javac tek /dtek in the uk?

Soap and Water....never fails :D

i trust nothing else! My electronic leak detector comes out of the packet to be calibrated once a year

That used to be my policy until I found a leak detector that worked. Soap and water or leak fluid still has it's place but a good modern leak detector can be used to good effect.
