SMEG FAB 28P3 problems

I have been asked to have a look at a SMEG 28P3 fridge which I understand is freezing food in the refrigerator part then defrosting all the food including the stuff in the freezer, the grand finale being a flooded kitchen!
I have'nt seen it yet and It sounds like a straightforward thermostat fault to me but I thought I would ask the question on here first.
Anyone recognise this fault?

Thanks for the comment. Being a fridgetek does not make me the guru of all white goods, in fact, as you will know, one can never be all things to all men.

Judging by the multitude of negative reviews this model of refrigerator has received I thought it prudent to ask the question on here first, just in case someone else has experienced a similar problem with this model, moreover, what reinforced my decision to ask on here is that my customer has had someone else work on this refrigerator and this other person, a domestic refrigerator specialist, has replaced the compressor, filter drier and a host of other components, with the initial complaint remaining.

Just thought there may be a Smeg 'expert' on here with some advice, obviously i was wrong.
