door & window cut off switches

Hi Guys just stayed in a hotel where the a/c cut out when the patio door was opened. This looked like it had been retro fitted with a infra red receiver on top of the indoor unit & obviously some sort of transmitter on the door. Anybody know where this bit of kit is available & the best way to fit it. Thanks Mack.

There rather was a well concealed door switch.

wrap foil around the reciever- or short the switched contact within the reciever then you can cool your balcony!!:D
