Have a question hopefully some one can shine a little light on. I have a Mycom 6B amonnia compressor that will not pick up any oil pressure have changed the oil pump out and the main bearing head with no luck. But if you throttle in the suction v/v to say to 1 turn open then start the compressor the oil pressure will pick up and run no problem even when you fully open the suction v/v only to fail again on oil pressure when the compressor cycles and sits for say 15 minutes and starts again? The oil is clean and strainer is in the correct postion.

How soon after the compressor start does the oil-pressure failure occur?

Normally there would be a timer preventing O/P switches to shut the compressor down just as it starts.

nanuuk,
A few things come to mind on this one for things to check.

Are gauges reading correctly.
Is sump warm before start & after it stops on oil trip?
Does oil foam?

What speed is compressor, if it has belts maybe you need tp post motor rpm & pulley sizes.
Flywheel is normally 460mm.

What happened before pump was changed, symptoms etc.

Also what oil pressure are you trying to achieve & what is oil trip setting?

For problem machines like this if it has mysteries, I would remove sump cover & would pump up oil galleries
with oil to see where all the flow might be.

Probably to much information straight up!

nanuuk,
Also oil return from oil seperator, maybe shut off during testing, as to eliminate it.
