I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT A YORK SCREW CHILLER.

Starting Current A : 586
Inrush Current A : 1758
Motor HP : 170

Torrent Rules:
0>125 HP = Low Tension
125> = High Tension

PROBLEM=
(JOHNSON CONTROL) jci says it works with low tension (LT) but the electricity power supllying company (Torrent Power Ltd., surat, gujarat, india) says it requires High Tension (HT).

York Chiller Cost me (2,000,000) INR
HT connection Cost (1,000,000) INR
Total Expense (3,000,000)

Can You guide me what should i do? do i require HT or not??

Is the power supply company recommending you HT supply because of high inrush current ? If so, you may consider soft start systems (York must be able to guide you on this).

Hi
your unit needs 380 volts this is refered to in most places as low voltage ! up to 1000 volts.
so stick with lv,what they may be trying to tell you is that you need a transformer that will handle this load this trafo is fed from the hv line usually a12.6kv to 0.4kv or any other combination .
good luck

Hi
Your system can be started with LV power supply i.e 415v ac, 50hz only. Pl check your transformer feeding capacity & relay settings. Also pl watch the starting current duration. Star/dela starting should not be a problem.
