R600 or R290

Hi all,
I have a big domestic stainlees steel fridge. It is working on R600.It had a leak which i have now repaired. I do not have any R600 i was wondering is there an alternative refrigerant i could use on this system. I do have R290 but the boiling point is a lot lower with this gas. Would i need to change the capillary line. I can get R600A but again the boiling point is a lot lower. Could i possibly use R134A if i change the oil inthe compressor and the drier. I do also have some R22.
Any suggestions?

Hi Tonto33 could you tell me why i can not use R290. I havent worked with these gases so i am not too familiar with them. Is it a case that the boiling point of R290 is too low for this sytem. Also if i am to use R600A do i put in the same amount of charge (90 grammes) . I was told that the gas charge is critical and it would have to be charged by weight, is this true? Thanks for your help

If using 600a then I don't generally weigh in small charges,charge until gauge is approx at -.4bar,so thats minus point four bar,if you use charging stub close off and braze dont leave schrader type on as suction pressure is so low it could draw in air when you take off lines.
Don't rush charging,it somtimes seems to slug a bit to me so 30 minutes steady is better.

Compressor operating on R600a has a weak motor. If you fill other refrigerant, 134 or 22 operating current of the compressor is too high and he died.))) If you fill the 290, it seems to be to work ... But you must not fill by weight, and visually inspect the fueling dose, guided by its experience ... But you'd better use of R600a..:)

Refill after good evacuation and weigh in the R600a , after a leak repair it is advised to fill with a charge of 10% less that stated charge, due to disolved refrigerant in the compressor, normal running pressure should be around 10inch vac on low side.
Only add full charge as stated if replacing compressor.
