Anyone practical experience with an Emerson Compressor Soft Starter (CSS)?
We have an application where a small generator (inverter type generator) has problems to start a 2 x 240 V hermetic compressor. The small Honda inverter generator can't handle the high start current of the Unithé hermétique CAJ4524Z (404a)
The compressor starts unloaded (Hp and LP bypassed 20 seconds prior to startup)
A possible solution is replacing the 2 x 240 V compressor with a 3 x400V type and converting the main power supply of 2 x 240 to the compressor to 3 x 240 V with a VFD, programming a rampup/speedup time of some seconds and then transfrom the 3 x 240 V to 3 x 400V with a transformer.
A lot of work if a CSS can handle all this.
