I'm am a student of a refrigeration college & about to graduate.
I got a project from my friend the produce guy to fix his refrigerated truck.
Truck doesnt have any refrigeration & i dont know what to start with out there.
System seems really old & rusty, cant find any model # on it. can someone help me to identify it if is possible? system seems like hooked up to a car ac compressor. & doesnt have its own compressor on top. fan inside is working but the car compressor isnt running. should i start with charging car's ac system? is there any manuals about this rooftop units to download?

It appears to be an old Thermo King V250-10, I wouldn't waste my time trying to do anything with it; definitely needs to be retired. The 10 version was solely OED so there wouldn't be any standby compressor on it.

The unit vintage is mid 90s from memory; and from the look of that unit; it appears to be one of the originals.
Let me know if you want to try to do something with it, though it certainly looks pretty tired.
By the way, if you replace the OED compressor, make sure you ft a TM15 and not a TM16.

thats why i said post up pictures !! that things had its day, and would be a money pit to get going and would still be unreliable

replaced the gaskets on compressor manifold that caused me a leak & it seems working fine. Dont have any desire to look for leaks in roof unit. btw how much is a new compressor going for roughly?

Off the top of my head, the TM15 is the correct compressor, without going into detail, the TM16 can have an adverse affect on the operation of the unit. What's your email and I'll see if I can rake up an old manual for you.
Gravy's right though, they weren't one of Thermo King's more reliable units; personally, if it doesn't play up again, you're doing well; if it does, might be time to look at another unit.......Tone

To be honest, I can't remember why the TM15; I was told specifically by Thermo King to use only the TM15, though I note that they list the TM16 & TM13 compressors for the off engine application, so I would suggest that the TM15 applies to the 20 model (with elect standby) as the compressors run parallel. As yours is a 10 model, it may not apply........Tone

With regard to the 67-1210 receiver tank, you may be stuck with buying it from TK unless you can find someone with an old V250 that they are happy to dismantle. US$500 is not a bad price as I have a pretty good idea of what the dealer would expect to pay for it. A lot of these types of parts have a very low usage rate and as such can cost a lot to hold as a stock item, though this part is also used in a number of smaller coach units such as the ART, SRT & Shuttleaire systems so I suspect there is still some requirement for it.
