TEV movement "A cunning plan"

Something I have never paid much attention to , But I recently, out of interest put a exp valve bulb in a freezer and left it overnight,next day
I stuck a pen in against the needle and ran the bulb under a tap to see how much it moved,about 3mm is that about correct, Not very accurate I know but .

Sound fair, you don't need a lot of movement really.

That sort of info seems in short supply, doesn't it?

If you look at the power head and try to imagine the amount of diaphram movement available it is easy to visualise it having very little range.

Another way is to put the orifice into the body of the valve and it should
stick out 2mm to 3mm and that can be used to see if the valve is still
working ok. If you cooled the bulb down and then allowed it to warm up
again you would see the range of the valve pin's movement.
