OK,
Don't know where in the world you are based, a lot will depend on local technical backup and availability of spares.

But

Toshiba, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Hitachi are all reputable manufacturers.
Panasonic is also OK.
Some other manufacturers are probably best avoided if you look at reliability and life span of their products.

had problems of lev's sticking on outdoor unit- with multi splits you can lose performance with diversity- ie a 2kw indoor will not always produce 2kw output if the other indoors are running their nuts off

Have installed a couple of Hitachi Ram130 (6xindoor units to 1xmulti outdoor unit) in the last 18months, really good kit, works great, can definitely recommend!

I've a Hitachi in my place, great unit but beware spare parts are a horrendous price, you really need to pick an installer you trust and see what brands they carry, after all they will be who you call if it breaks.

Hi all,
Thanks a lot for all replys!

I am based in milan italy

I really like the hitachi unit which is the most efficent, but it seems that service is very poor here.

Mitsubishi they are out of stock for a month...

Lg is very efficent with low power draw and a 5 year warranty on compressor, but it seems like people here don't like lg! Why?

Daikin is expensive and not very efficent

For about half the price I could get some chinese machine with japanese compressor not very efficent but much cheaper.

What is the life span expected of such machine?

Thanks again to all!

Over here in canada, a lot of the Chinese stuff starts having problems after a couple of years (anecodotal evidence). Also, in a recient report (I will try to find it) Fujitsu met their specs, Mitsi did not. They didn't look at Daikin as it wasn't available yet.

The new LG Multisplit range are brilliant and the indoor units are also good. I have bought new indoor wall mounts for my house and used it with the outdoor unit that I had at my previous flat and system runs perfect.

Just dont get the ceiling/floor mount convertible units. They do not work work in heating mode. All other models work great and decent price.
