New compressors come with a full charge of oil.

Kefah,

Have you made your mind up yet?
Adding oil or removing it?

A couple of questions spring to mind,
What system are you working on?
Have you done many compressor changes before?

.

As others have said it is not possible to give a straight forward
answer to the question.

If the system was a correctley sized Airconditioning system then
no oil would need to be added.

If the system was a localy designed and installed system using
components that are generic and off the shelf, then in that situation
you might need to add oil.

As a rough rule if you need to fit and oil seperator you need to add oil,
if you don't fit an oil seperator you might get away without adding oil.

It just depends on the system and how it is designed.
If there are hundreds of metres of pipe you will need oil adding.

All the best

Rob

We can't tell you!

Sometimes if your changing an old compressor they might want to change the oil as the system will be on Mineral oil, and the new compressor on Ester, however they should be finding the right compressors for these jobs. And doing a complete retro-fit.

If you are replacing a compressor like for like then normally you can get away with it without adding/removing oil. If you need to find out the quantity and type of oil then the manufacturer is who you need to ask.

Also sometimes there can be a need to change the oil if the manufacturer has stated a certain compressor with a certain oil, example... a Bristol compressor we have recently replaced needed to be drained and filled with lower viscosity oil...

You need to ask the manufacturer for oil quantity and type..
