Carrier 5h80 shaft seal

Hello,yesterday i change the shaft seal of carrier and i put a new one.As the compressor is not running yet i discovered that i have a slight leak at the shaft.I wonder if when the compressor will run the leak will stop?thank you.

hi origin,
if its the carrier one I remember having to <lock the new seal < turn one end of the seal against the other end of the seal to lock it open , then turn it < when its in position to close the seal onto the shaft, that is if this makes sence, about the oll leak, NEVER HAD ONE lol, hope you sucseed= sedgy

Hi Origin.
I have sent you a manual section as to how to fit your s/seal via email.
I would of posted it on the forum only size does not permit this?

Thanks for your help this pdf shows all the steps i did.But it still leaks!!

I don’t know this seal in particular.

Did you spray oil evenly? This is important as ultimately it is the oil that will prevent leakage. Also if you wait too long the oil may be gone already.

If you did then you should check tolerances (one of the surfaces may not be round) and/or defects in the shaft/seal and/or oring.
