Option code on split

Hi all just a quick one I have recently been called to a split system who's interconnecting wires had perished and burnt out causing the unit to blow its fuse. I replaced the fuse interconnecting wire and restarted. I now have power to the indoor but still nothing working. The controller is flashing a Er code 163 which is reset option code on indoor. I tried 30 minute power down but still no go. So I changed indoor pcb and tried again still nothing. Can anyone explain what the option code is , why it need resetting. Until recently have largely been on installs of small systems and have never had to input option codes or reset EEFROM before so just a bit puzzled as to why replacing the pcb hasn't solved the problem

I have been told that Some of the Samsung boards need programming to the unit, same board does different models so it don't know what to do till it knows what it's fitted to.

Makes sense just need to lay my hands on the service manual proving a little hard to find

You need a hand held infra-red controller to programme it

Try searching for the indoor unit model number.

Right guys I have the option code and have purchased a infra red remote controller to input the code except I don't know the input procedure. I know you have to input the code following a procedure in which you assign a number/ letter to each button ie temp up ,temp down Fan ,Timer on ,Timer off etc the controller I have is a MR-CH01 for use with a Samsung TH035EAV mini 4 way cassette any ideas?
