A quick check I do with installed systems that may be overloaded is do a quick estimate of external box area, floors walls and ceiling for what ever application. then multiply external area expressed in square feet and multiply by 16 for chillers and 13 fo freezers, result is in Btus for standard applications, works everytime. You get a feel for actual application and refrig system sizing as installed, only for small stuff though.
Ten minutes with a tape measure and a calculator.
