Fit & Forget flexi-hose

Hi,

Is there such a thing as fit & forget flexi-hose?

A customer wants a portable fit & forget chiller system for their RV, they travel worldwide and some places they cannot get servicing for over a year. Movable evaporator on a hinged rack that is rotatable, with fan attached. Brazed, sealed unit, no going back.

I have heard suggestions of corrugated steel hose, but the brittleness at copper/steel solder joints are putting me off.

Is there a 100% non-effusive/impermeable flexi-hose made of plastic/rubber for HFCs?

I think I'm on the right track. It astounds me that there is such a limited range of non-effusive tubing around. I thought HFCs were really big molecules compared to water for instance (and you don't see water leaking out of your garden hose, well I do, but you probably don't).

I think I might do a bit of DIY and see how the rack copes with the weight of a compressor and a couple of bolts also :D

We use the stainless steel hoses from Carly, available in different lenghts, threated or soldering ends.

Why should soldering give any problems?

Or the rubber hoses (= much cheaper then the Carly solution) from Parker or Aeroquip where you can screw on the hose without special tools the right coupling.

We have applications where we use +/- 20 hoses/year.

Swagelok convoulted stainless Internal 316 external 314. Given a 25 year life on some of my military kit. www.swagelok.com. Not cheap but they will supply in any length with almost any standard fitting to their double ferrule (e.g. BSP). Up to 400 bar and helium leak tested to better than 10-9 mbar.lt/sec. Solder and braze will be attacked (pitted) especially if you have any moisture in the system. No such immediate problem with compression joints IF they are double ferrule.

these are good solution.

I use a local manufacturer that makes them to any size and length.
