Hello. Please pardon my ignorance in this matter. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Not the actual fridge but looks just like this one.

I just moved into a new home and it came with a double door display coke fridge in the basement (after some searching this fridge seems to be a TRUE GDM 33). In preparation to start using it, I noticed the light was not working. Thinking it was the bulb, I replaced and it still was not lighting up. The fridge itself seems to work fine. Since it is not the bulb, I was curious how simple it might be to get it repaired/replaced.

It was suggested to me that either the ballasts and/or the starter may be bad. Could that be the only issue? I was perhaps trying to find a manual for the fridge but I am not familiar with other fridge model names as searching TRUE GDM 33 in the books section brought up many results. Before I start taking things apart, I wanted to get some information on what I was doing. Can I just take it out and replace it at home depot? Will I need to start cutting wires to get it out?

I appreciate any type of help. Thanks for your time.

It can very well be your problem.
You can also install a small PL light instead of the neon.

is the tube twisted 90deg on the lamp holder? make sure theyre 2-18w not 4-65watt. as monkeyspanners says is it switched on?- the lighting circuit is basic-240v through narrow rocker switch then through a ballast- 240v input and around 140v output, some of the starters on them have a lil reset button on top, their should be a lil wiring diagram on the back
usually 18w tubes inside and a 30w (not 3ft 36w) also look for a lil switch when u open the door under the facia

It would be great to have one of those in the basement, just fill it with beers.Don't worry about the light you will find it in dark with a torch.

then youd have to find the photocell to cover it or link it out, otherwise youll only have 12hrs of cooling

if u wire to lamp post via service panel the electric is live 24/7 so no problem
