I have had several 12mm (12L) fittings fail recently.
IE, An Oil leak develops releasing refrigerant with it.
I always change the fitting for new.

Has anyone had any success just re-tightening these up?

Looking at the data sheet it seems that they can be undone and then remade but looking at the sectional detail I suppose a retighten might work.

They state however that once done-up tight that it is a perfect leak free joint (yeah, right).

Hi Grizzly.
I use alot of swageloc fitting etc., they stipulate that they be torqued up and backed off 1/4 of a turn. So me being me tighten till elbow clicks and back them off. Resealable disconnects the same process. Never had a problem. Don't know what the back off effect is but seems to work.

Thanks guys.
The one I checked yesterday (Had sprung a leak!) had an internal hairline fracture.
So it was replaced.

Grizzly,
VSD on screw compressor can cause fractures of tube, maybe thats what you have?
Certain frequencies cause vibration & tube gets metal fatigue.

Your getting scary Sherlock!

A SAB 163HR Rotatune with vibration resonance at 2 points, all sorted now.
But thanks for the input.
