Hey everybody
For an ice maker I am manufacturing an evaporator from a stainless steel pipe with copper tubing coiled around it. I want to try using plate solder to solder the copper to the SS. All I can find is silver plate solder for jewelry applications. Does anyone know where I can get some tin-based plate solder?

I would suggest to find company doing deep galvanizing, they can do it for you.

Use the solder like they use for soldering copper or zinc gutters after using staining (correct word?) powder or gel.
We do it that way, there are some pictures of us on this forum of it.

Contact Handy Harmon. I have been using their solders for joining different metals and they have production shaped pre-forms formost things. I think you might find that copper to SS will take some silver based stuff.
