hi everyone,
I am stuck at sizing an evaporator. The cooling load is 4 ton air contioning. How can I start to size this evap? what are the design process steps?

make some assumptions like the temps.
find a datasheet of a evaporator (in your book) and calc backwards.
start with a simple copper pipe
you could use coolpack for this.

thank you for your answer. the temperatures are known. the cold stream R-22 10 deg. Celcius and the hot air inlet 30 deg. Celcius, outlet 18 deg. C.Cooling load is 4 ton. I wonder where to start. How can I start to desing. Do I have to start with to assume an evap with its fin and tube dimensions? if I I did it and the capacity will not fit with demanded specifications what should I do? assume a new evap and repeat the same calculations?
