Dear Experts,

I am really new to CO2 so please be gentle.:p

Can someone explain the proper evacuation and charging procedure for CO2?

When charging and pressure reaches the Triple point pressure 5.2 bar then CO2 becomes solid?????

Appreciate your explanations.

Cheers
LANA

Lana
i am by no means an expert in this subject what i know i learnt from a days awarness course and im referring to my course notes, if it is avaiable to you i would get some training on this gas as it sounds like awful stuff to get wrong and cause yourself or others an injury.
the evacuation proceedure is the same as normal refrigeration systems other than the minimum torr level is 13torr, if C02 is crossed with moisture then a toxic and harmful acid is formed (i dont remember the name)
it should then be charged as vapour to above its triple point of 4.7barg, then liquid may be added it is imperative that liquid is free flowing at all times as liquid lock in pipework can cause the c02 to sublime and expand and explode it is below the triple point that C02 can become a solid thus the need to charge vapour above this.
