Shinco heat pumps

Anyone ever heard anything about these heat pumps. My sister is being pushed pretty hard by a salesman to put one in, not that I'd let her do it.

not had any mauling with these japanese units- 1yr warranty on parts 5yr warranty on the compressor- this tells me the pcbs will destroy themselves in 18mth. suppose it depends on the quality of the workmanship from the monkey installing it

I am told they are Chinese so they are automatically suspect to me.

If it is Chinese, stay away, don't let the low price blind you.

geography wasnt my best subject at school, mike why can't u do her a custom built mike holm special, hows the price compare to other systems? all low budget splits use either hitatchi,panasonic compressors as they are proven reliable, i remember having to source a condenser fan blade for a fairland-could get complete systems no problem but finding a spares distributor-took a while, all things for her to look into when taking the plunge

I probably will make her a unit but this guy is pushing hard all over the province and he is charging $2000 installed for what I guess is a 4-5kw air to air unit. I expect it doesn't use a descent comp but who knows.

surely u could do her install for less- family rates,or did she get you a crap christmas present last year?

if santa is the salesman for shinco-then he wouldnt be able to park his sleigh near my gaff as ther'es daikin splits in my crib!!

Lots of posts on HVAC-Talk about circuit boards failing on these, tech back up seems poor too, but i'm only going on what ive read there.

Wouldn't touch them with a sh!ty stick.....
