Hi folks

I have been asked to refrigerate a game (ie meat) production area and are not to sure of what evaporator/s to specify. The required temp must be 6 to 10 degrees and the airflow must be gentle for the comfort of the staff working. additionaly the coolers must be roof mounted with side air flow, that is not blowing downwards.

The internal height is 2.7m and the floor is 9.6m X 6.0m giving a volume of 156m/3

Any suggestions regarding the specification and sizing would be most welcome. there will be up to 10 people working and electrical load from machinary and lighting will be in the order of 2kw.

Many thanks

pick a evap manufacturer and talk to them.
They will advise.
You have a good manufacturer in Farnham already.

Have a look at these fabric air ducts, if you can apply them, they meet the requirments you asked for.

tip,get the evap coils treated with blygold or similar fin treatment, also ensure the light fittings are weather proof, also with horizontal airflow this reduces complaints of draughts, reducing airflow decreases capacity and thus requires more defrosts-staff can wear gloves if a 6deg enviroment is not to their liking

Done something similar with a twin fan Searle evap, had special fan gaurds that you fit a fabric sock on like the ones Chemi linked to that run the length of the room. They fit into a channel in the roof. Need a set to use and a set to wash.

Or maybe a dual discharge cooler, depends on customers budget.
